The most popular kids on today's television gathered at the SM Mall of Asia Arena last December 9 for an afternoon of fun and fashion organized by the people behind one of the most loved animated characters of all-time – Garfield.
The celebrity kids disregarded the heat of network war as they share one stage with the wonder kid of a hit 'fantaserye' Mutya Orquia leading the young stars of ABS-CBN and Eat Bulaga's 'Cha cha cha kid' Ryza Mae Dizon representing GMA 7.
Aside from Mutya and Ryza, other celebrity kids who charmed the runway in a fashion show for Garfield apparels are Louie Abuel, who plays as Jodi Sta. Maria's younger brother in "100 Days to Heaven", Belinda Mariano of "Lorenzo's Time", Clarence Delgado of "Ina, Kapatid, Anak" and "Budoy", Joshen Bernardo of "Angelito: Ang Batang Ama" and JM Ibañez of "Please Be Careful With My Heart". Also performing in the fashion show are Migs Cuaderno of "Munting Heredera" and "Goin Bulilit's" Marie Reyes.
Meanwhile, Talentadong Pinoy's "Yoyo Master" Joshua Davis also stunned the crowd with his amazing Yoyo tricks while Viva Records' new recording star Miguel Aguila serenaded the audience with Christmas songs.
Aside from the celebrities, the fashion show was highlighted by the newest collection of Garfield-printed and inspired outfits which are not just for the kids but also for teens. All the pieces exhibited at the ramp were made available in a Garfield store set up in a huge kiosk in the middle of the SM Mall of Asia Atrium.
The Garfield Holiday Party was also served as a celebration of the 34 years of retail success of the orange, fuzzy, and tabby cynical cat cartoon character. Just in case most of you don't know, Garfield was actually born June 19, 1978 in an Italian restaurant which made him obsessed with lasagna, coffee, and his remote control. Garfield then swiftly became a worldwide sensation appearing on newspapers and even appearing in a TV show "Garfield & Friends" from 1988 to 1995.
Aside from the 2-day Holiday Garfield Party at the SM Mall of Asia Arena last December 8 and 9, a life-size Snakes and Ladders game was also built for the kids to enjoy from December 10 to 12 at the same venue. If you missed the good times, no need to weep as you can still catch up by shopping some Garfield apparels still now on display at SM MOA.
