SMART Communications and Metro Manila Development Authority (MMDA) revealed the finalists of the 1st Cine-Phone Film Festival, a nationwide movie-making competition that will cater to movies completely made through the use of cellphones.
As a prelude to this year’s 38th Metro Manila Film Festival, the Metro Manila Development Authority and SMART Communications will host a nationwide movie-making competition completely made through the use of cellphones dubbed the “1st Cine-Phone Film Festival.”
The event aims to recognize the creativity of Filipino young people for them to express themselves, tell stories and recognized through an accessible and affordable medium. The competition is further meant to promote healthy competition and instill Filipino values amongst the youth.
Thousands of entries from across the country came mostly from students and their short films revolve around the theme “Restoring Road Courtesy Among Motorists and Pedestrians” depicting values such as courtesy, discipline and respect.
– WATCH THE 60 FINALISTS HERE – The 60 finalists shall receive: Loot Bags from Smart and Manila Bulletin; Smart Bro Plug-it prepaid broadband kits; P60,000 worth of Smart Bro load (P1,000 for every finalist).
The six (6) selected winners will be revealed during the MMFF Awards Night on December 27, 2012. They will receive the following prizes:
- P 25,000.00
- Post-production package c/o Abracadabra Productions
- High End Smart Phone c/o Smart Telecommunications
- Broadband Kit c/o Smart Telecommunications
- One-year Paid Film Internship c/o VIVA Productions
- Digital Cameras c/o Sony
- Film course scholarship
Two special awards are also at stake: the Manila Bulletin’s Choice Award for Best Story and the SMART People’s Choice Award.
