ABS-CBN Publishing's Vault, a lifestyle magazine for the modern, sophisticated man, was named winner of Best New Magazine at the 2012 Asian Publishing Awards (APA), held recently in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia. It also received an excellence award in the category Best in Design, Layout and Presentation.
The Asian Publishing Awards recognizes best multimedia practices in magazine, book, and corporate communications sectors. This year, the APA winners were culled from a strong field of 157 entries involving 34 media companies from 8 countries.
At the ceremony, Vault was cited for "addressing a clearly defined target of upscale, high net worth Filipino males. The publishers have identified a gap and created a fresh looking format."
“We operate in a very crowded media landscape where it is getting more and more challenging to engage multitasking readers. This is why we are very proud of Vault magazine’s achievements since it launched last year. This recognition reaffirms our belief that great content, innovation and the unyielding commitment to fulfill the needs of our readers will make the difference in today’s busy marketplace. Vault, the new player- the rookie brand, made a difference. For an organization that takes pride in building successful homegrown brands amidst so many local and foreign players, this is a remarkable feat,” said Christina Lopez, Content Director and Head of Marketing for ABS-CBN Publishing, in her acceptance remarks.
Anticipating the rapid growth in viewing magazines online, ABS-CBN Publishing simultaneously launched the magazine's print and digital edition in May 2011, a first in the local publishing industry. Vault's editorial team is led by broadcast journalist and host David Celdran as Editor in Chief, with Karl FM Castro as Art Director.
Celdran saw Vault’s win as a "nice surprise."
"Indeed, Asia is experiencing the most dynamic growth in publishing in the world. To be chosen as the best new magazine in this highly competitive region can only be seen as an honor not just for ABS-CBN, but for the Philippine publishing industry as well," he added.
Since its release in 2011, it has developed a strong following among its niche audience.
It builds around in-depth content on global luxury brands, unique experiences, and fine products that represent the best achievements of the human hand. Its approach to luxury is informed by creativity, craftsmanship, passion, and heritage.
Seeing the award as an inspiration for the magazine and its staff, Celdran said, "Vault will continue to stick to its core identity: a visually driven and highly informative magazine for readers with refined tastes. But the award reminds us that our appeal is global as well. In the coming issues, expect even more international content as we continue to cover the most exclusive experiences and premium products around the globe."
Vault is available in good bookshops nationwide. The digital edition is available on Zinio.com and through the iTunes App Store.
