The premiere telecast of actor Coco Martin‘s newest series “Juan dela Cruz” ruled the national TV ratings on Monday.
Based on the latest data of Kantar Media/TNS, the show’s pilot episode registered a 36.5% nationwide rating, beating GMA7′s “Indio” which garnered a rating of 16.5%.
“Masaya po at successful ang first day namin. Pati ‘yung rating at feedback ng tao,” Martin said during the press conference for his film “A Moment In Time” with leading lady Julia Montes on Tuesday afternoon. “Nakakataba po ng puso kasi sabi nila ay para silang nanonood ng pelikula habang nanonood ng ‘Juan Dela Cruz.’”
“Sobrang nakakatuwa at sulit ‘yung pinaghirapan namin talaga ng buong cast, ng director, ng scriptwriter at congratulations sa ABS-CBN kasi nakagawa na naman tayo ng isang magandang soap,” he added.
Billed as the biggest “teleserye” of the Kapamilya network this year, “Juan dela Cruz” stars Martin as the title character, a “Filipino-made superhero.”
It tells the story of Juan as he struggles to find his real identity. He later takes hold of a holy cross — which shifts into four different weapons — enabling him to fight the forces of evil.
Joining Martin in the series are stars, Joel Torre, Albert Martinez, Zsa Zsa Padilla, Aaron Villaflor, Gina Pareño and leading lady Erich Gonzales.
