Wanted: Max Collins Valentine's Date
Max Collins, one of the lead stars of GMA's primetime series "Pahiram ng Sandali," is probably one of the prettiest leading ladies on primetime television today but hey, guys, as of this article's posting, this gorgeous lady is very much SINGLE!
After a break-up with her non-showbiz boyfriend several months ago, Max Collins proudly declared that she is single and that she's enjoying her status at the moment. But for those who wish to ask her out on a date this Valentine's Day, better try harder since she's got other plans.
"Siguro magpapahinga lang muna ako or magde-date kami ng mga girl friends kong single din," said Max.
Rumor has it that kapuso hunk Pancho Magno has his sights set on Max Collins. The model/actor apparently named Max as his crush in showbiz. How does Max feel about it?
"I'm flattered. Actually, I haven't been introduced to him and hindi ko pa siya naka-trabaho. Nakaka-shock, but I'm flattered. Sana I meet him in person one day," the actress suggested.
Does Pancho fit into Max's description of an ideal boyfriend material?
"I don't know him as a person pa kasi e. I'm look more into the personality of the person kasi e. Kung funny siya, baka puwede kasi mahilig ako sa mga funny na guys, may sense of humor," said Max. "Ang gusto ko ay 'yong mabait, malambing at mapagkumbaba. Mas gusto ko sana wala sa showbiz," she added.
Newbie kapuso actor Benjamin Alves was the last showbiz personality who was linked to Max and both admitted to going out on dates especially during the time when they were paired as a love team in the now defunct primetime series, "Coffee Prince."
According to Max, her relationship with Benjamin didn't go beyond the dating stage. After "Coffee Prince" ended, the dating eventually waned down.
Max says she's not really in a hurry to be in a relationship and that as much as possible she wants a non-showbiz boyfriend. In fact, all his past boyfriends were not from the show business.
"Mas gusto ko yung non-showbiz para hindi magulo (laughs)," she reasoned.
Having a non-showbiz boyfriend also has its drawbacks: non-showbiz boyfriends usually find it hard to see their showbiz girlfriends do intimate scenes with co-actors, and most of the time this causes conflicts in the relationship. Is Max not worried about this?
"Kung mahal niya talaga ako, kailangan tanggapin niya na it comes with me," said Max.
The primetime series, "Pahiram ng Sandali" paved the way for Max Collins' foray into primetime TV. Max says that she feels blessed to be given by GMA-7 the chance to lead in a primetime series along with high-calibre actors like Lorna Tolentino, Christopher de Leon and Dingdong Dantes.
"Marami po akong natutunan sa kanila, not only in terms of acting but also in terms of being professional in this craft," Max said of his co-lead stars.
With regard to whether she felt pressured to be working alongside industry veterans and with a highly-acclaimed director, Max said she would rather use the term "challenged" to describe the experience.
"Na-challenge po ako lalo na dahil sa mga kasama ko at kay direk Maryo J. (delos Reyes). It was more of exciting for me. I like pushing my limits and this is my opportunity to do so," she shared.
Also, the actress has nothing but kind words to say about his handsome leading man Dingdong Dantes.
"I couldn't have done it without him [Dingdong] kasi sobra siyang supportive and he's very giving as an actor. He's so generous with his emotions and the same goes for Ms. L.T., Sir Christopher de Leon and kahit sa kanila nadadala ako sa mga eksena naming," she said.
Max Collins said that especially towards the finale, viewers could expect more twists in the series, which she describes as a "rollercoaster ride of a show."
"Lalo na 'yong mga last scenes kasi puro mga iyakan, very emotional talaga. Sa character ko (Cindy), kailangan abangan ng mga viewers kung papaano niya i-handle ang mga nangyayari sa kaniyang buhay ngayon at kung ano ang magiging relationship niya sa mother niya (Lorna Tolentino) at kay Alex (Dingdong Dantes) after niyang malaman na nagkaroon din pala sila ng relasyon or may nangyari sa kanila, and also kung ano ang mangyayari sa kaniyang relationship with her father (Christopher de Leon) dahil marami talagang magbabago sa kanila," she teased.
Although there are no definite plans yet for a new project for her after "Pahiram ng Sandali," Max is hoping that she'd be given another drama series.
"Sana drama pa rin para ma-hone po ako, para mas lalo po akong macha-challenge na kaya ko ring ma-stretch yung instrument ko as an actress," she said.
Watch Max Collins in "Pahiram ng Sandali" from Monday to Friday on GMA's Telebabad (primetime) block.
