According to Bulgar tabloid January 7, mother and daughter, Susan Roces and Grace Poe – Llamanzares were not pleased with the winning of Star Cinema movie, “One More Try” of the coveted FPJ’s memorial award at MMFF Awards Night.
Based on the criteria of FPJ’s Memorial Award, it should have been awarded to either “Thy Womb” of Nora Aunor or “El Presidente: The Emilio Aquinaldo Story.” Both movies show the Filipino culture and have achieved international standards.
The Star Cinema movie, “One More Try” has been accused of copying the Chinese movie “In Love We Trust.”
According to the article, Ms. Susan Roces and Ms. Grace Poe Llamanzares had no idea that the Star Cineman Movie , “One More Try” will be announced as the winner. They were just called by the MMFF Committee to grace the awards night and be the presenters for that category.
In the next year’s MMFF, Ms. Susan Roces and Grace Poe Llamanzares vowed to actively participate in the selection of the movie worthy to receive the FPJ’S MEMORIAL AWARD.
