MMFF 2012 5th Day Box Office Update: “Sisterakas” is about to hit the record “Highest First Week Gross for a Filipino Movie for 2012″ as its day 5 earnings are now running at P167 million. The Star Cinema comedy movie is also about to hit the record for the only Filipino movie in 2012 to surpass the P200 million mark in just 1 week.
Take note that current no. 1 Filipino movie–”The Mistress”–has grossed P186.73 million in 2 weeks so if we will compare it to the performance of “Sisterakas” in the Metro Manila Film Festival (MMFF) 2012, the Vice Ganda-Kris Aquino-AiAi delas Alas starrer will definitely break this record!
As for Brillante Mendoza‘s “Thy Womb,” it may still be the least-grossing MMFF film this year but its gross is now running at P24 million in 5 days which is not bad for an indie film. And if you will compare it to last year’s “Yesterday, Today and Tomorrow” which had a box office gross of P10.68 million in 2 weeks, we can say that “Thy Womb” is doing very well and it may be one of the highest-grossing and definitely one of the most successful indie films this year.
