Broadcast journalist Ted Failon looks back at some of the biggest exposes of "Failon Ngayon" this Saturday (Dec 29) in its special year-end report .
Watch how the program made follow-ups with PAGCOR to explain the various anomaliesfacing the state-run casino. Nothing much has changed from the time PAGCOR was under former chairman Efraim Genuino to current chairman Cristino Naguiat. It has been haunted by questionable transactions, spurious contracts, and now, it is facing questions on the construction of PAGCOR City. Will things improve in PAGCOR in 2013?
Another issue that made headlines in 2012 was the effect of mining in the country. The government earns only two percent from all the mining activities done on Philippine territories and it is not even enough to compensate for the damages done to our environment. Can the Mining Executive Order be finally implanted in 2013 to properly regulate mining in the country?
Lastly, a much talked-about issue was the involvement of the police in various crimes. From 2010 to 2012, there have been 137 reported cases filed against police authorities. From PO1 to police superintendent and lieutenant colonel levels, there are cases waiting to be tried in court. Now that Chief Superintendent Leonardo Espina is the new NCRPO chief, will we finally see changes in the police workforce?
